Speaking of gorgeous background paintings, tonight’s Animation Night centres on a real treat: Tekkonkinkreet (2006), a story of two kids called Black and White in a messy city. Just have a look at this:
It’s also got very cool stylised character animation. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this film so I’m pretty damn excited to see it.
Following that, we’re going to watch a few Polish short films from the Polish Animation Anthology and subsequent collections. I’m running short on time, but let’s just say, many of these have some pretty incredible vibes and some very cool use of painting in animation. We’ll be going down a list of recs I found, I’ve had a quick look through but a lot of this will be as new to me as to you.
