An attempt to explore a certain sprawling series of dojin soft visual novels, starting with a murder mystery and elaborating over and over into metafiction, occultism, family trauma and epistemology. Expect tangents.
In which I go in with very little idea of what to expect. A murder mystery that turns increasingly supernatural, digressions into philosophy of science, and a lot of interesting facts about Japan courtesy of knowledgable readers.
In the second episode, we get thrown for a loop - which is to say, we take a different path through the same narrative, and an even more violent and unpleasant one at that. And if that's not your thing, well, metafiction abounds...
The third episode, now finished despite my five year hiatus. It is quite the ride. Massive revelations about witches and magic, an elaborate tsundere based ploy, and we even find the gold. The real Umineko starts here!
